The Environment. Our Future

"The Environment, Our Future" is indeedvery true. People around the world cut and chop down trees at an alarming speed. The reason? It is used to provide necessary materials. It's trunk can be processed into wood planks while its branches can be further mashed and processed into paper. At present day situation, few of the countries that contributed the poisonous gases and greenhouse gases are China, America and Indonesia. Greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide has a greenhouse effect which when produced, will destroy our atmosphere. It allows heat and sunlight to enter the Earth more readily and then traps them in our Earth. The heat contained in our planet will cause the icebergs and icecaps around the polar region to melt even faster than usual. Each day, more and more ice are melting, increasing the water level of the oceans around the world. As years go by, you can imagine the amount of water being melted into the ocean.

The unbearable heat in parts of tropical countries also add on to the troubles we face. In sunny Singapore, the average temperature in the last 10 years was estimated to bearound 25 degrees celsius. Presently, the temperature now have been rising and it is estimated to be around 27 degrees celsius. The intense heat has also been a headache to everyone. It gives everyone living in hot areas of the world a higher rate of getting skin cancer. In America, the Cancer Foundation has receive an increase of around 20% of people getting skin cancer and skin related problems. South-East asia has also encountered more skin related problems coming up in these few years.

Another problem is also partly because of vehicles. They give off poisonous gases, which endangers human lives. The creation of vehicles may be a good thing, but now more and more people are getting cars to travel around office and home. Thus, petrol prices have increased to encourage people to travel by buses or trains instead. Indonesia has very limited forests left. After forest fires destroys forests and the animals living in them too. Now, the Indonesian
govenment is trying its best to stop people from worsening the condition of Global Warming. They have harshen their laws and people who engage in illegal logging and forest fires may receive very harsh punishments by the law.
As the World's population increase, more and more people are searching for houses, and the builiding of more houses are necessary. In Singapore, it is encourage that families stay together under one roof. By divorcing, parents have to find each of their new homes to live in. That will lead to more houses being built. In other countries, forests and jungles have to be cleared to make room for housing development. Flats are more suitable at this time, as it saves space and allows many families to live in a block. It also breeds harmony among neighbours and helps to built an even more mulit-racial country.
By wasting resources such as paper in everyday life can also worsen the condition of Global Warming. Paper that has been used on 1 page can still be used on the 2nd page. We as inhabitants of the Earth should protect our planet, and save ourselves from future catastrophes. The main problem that we are facing currently is the lack of forests, which is the lack of trees and plants to stabilise oxygen and carbon dioxide production. Everyone can help and chip in to save our environment and Mother Nature. By taking taking trains and buses to travel around may not be as convenient as taking cars, but it's worth to sacrifice a little of our time to save the Earth, we should recycle paper as far as possible and should not be so irresponsible to burn and eliminate forests just for our own selfish benifits. If every family in Singapore were to cultivate at least 1 plant, there would be around 1million potted plants around Sinagapore. This way, not only can we learn to care for nature but help in balancing the carbon dioxide and oxygen level. By being considerate and responisble citizens helps alot and does really come in useful.

It all started when i fell asleep in class...

(Friday)I woke up feeling a little pain in my head...I've managed to catch the bus to school on time, set up my instrument and played for the National Anthem, stay awake for two periods of Maths and English. I couldn't take it much longer,I fell asleep in class. Fortunately for Me, the next period was recess. 35minutes of sleep did not help much though. For the next period was History and I was still in Lalaland. Mr Thiru suspected that i had a fever and asked if i wanted to go down to the sick bay located in the general office. "No,thank you." I said very tiredly. He felt my forehead and i was indeed having a slight fever. But still, I can't believe I fell asleep in class. This is the 1st time in my entire lifetime that i actually fell asleep in the uncomfortable conditions in class!

After school, there was band practice. I didn't skipped it as every band practice is very important to me.What's more, Mr Tan(the conductor) is coming down today. In the end, he did not came. We were taken by the student conductor and managed to go through few pieces quite well.I reached home at around 8p.m and finished my dinner at 8.30p.m i watched the 9p.m Chinese drama and went to sleep straight after that.

(Saturday)I attended band practice again today.Felt much better after the long sleep. But had sore throat, flu and headache the moment band was over. I was excused from drills because of that. I took a bus home with a good friend and he was acting as his "split personality" for awhile. The moment i reached home,i showered and fell asleep the moment my head touched my pillow. I woke up at 5.30p.m and felt really weak. That was the time my body felt very aching and I knew at once.Fever had caught up with me...

For the 1st post "Missing the bus on the 2nd week of school" the "And" on the 3rd paragraph is supposed to be "After"

New Year,New friends,New Lifestyle

Today is the 17Th of January.Everything seems like the past year, just that I am flooded with a stream of projects and researches.Fortunately, being a sec 2 Victorian, the past year's workload was not very little, so I'm more or less prepared for the 2ND year in Victoria School. The bad thing is that, I've been assigned projects even on the 1st and 2ND week of school. If this is considered bad, I can't imagine a day where students will be "plagued" by projects and researches.

Not only that, I've noticed that my friends have changed. They no longer seemed to be close with me,maybe it's due to misunderstandings of some kind. It's like being trapped on a raft in the middle of the ocean and my few good, close friends being drifted further and further away from me. And only few are left, stuck here, with me. Like the only treasure left that i can keep. While,I can't entirely blame them, maybe it's the way i react that they don't like, maybe it's the way i handle with things. It sounds very complicated on the outside,on the contrary, it's simple. We just don't click.

I've also found myself much less cheerful and optimistic as last year. The "happy-go-lucky" Me has disappeared. I express myself lesser to friends, and just don't have that past spirit in me anymore. Even so, every cloud has a silver lining. I guess things would be much better and stable in the near future.I might even get a better hold of it.I can only pray...

Missing the bus on the 2nd week of school

Today's the 14Th of January and I can't believe that I missed the bus by a few SECONDS! Today sure isn't working out for me. In the end, after sending a message to Iris and receiving the information that the next bus will come in approximately 16minutes, I've already got no choice but to take a cab to school. The taxi fare costs $13.80(inclusive of surcharge)It's like SO expensive and that's the plain reason why most people would rather get cars nowadays.

Things in school are not much better too.During my English reading programme period,i went down to the library to return a book that I've finished reading and borrowed a new one.however, after reading just 2 chapters of the book "Tell-Tale Heart and other stories" I got grossed and sick enough to even continue reading another page of it.In my opinion, the author of that book is seriously undergoing too much pressure and is almost mentally unsound. Who in the right thinking would kill his own beloved pet by hanging it and "bury"an axe straight into his wife's head. That's completely inhuman and gruesome.

And spending $13.80 and wasting my time reading strange and disgusting stories, I still had to come up with a terrible headache. What's more, my Design and Technology grouping has decided to go to a member's house to the group work. How can I absent myself even if my brain is undergoing such sharp pain?

Running in the rain to get to the bus-stop doesn't help make anything better... But at least my headache's subsiding, however, still feeling a little heavy in the head...

My thoughts on blogging

This is like the 1st time i came across lessons that can be conducted particularly in blogs!Let's just say lessons are not conducted in blogs. However, by expressing myself and the thoughts i have is actually an english lesson.Cool!

It really gives me a very strange feeling being able to express myself and having my English teacher read it!It is a strange feeling that even i am unsure of how to express it with my range of vocabulary, maybe it's something like a warm feeling which i get, being able to communicate with my teacher and fellow classmates in this manner.
